Nurse Aide (STNA) Training Program
St. Francis Home is to offer a Nurse Aide (STNA) Training Program for individuals wishing to obtain employment in any long-term facility in the state of Ohio. The 77-hour course is approved by the state of Ohio. Watch this page for dates for the next NATP classes.

The course consists of classroom instruction, lab in a simulated resident's room and a minimum of 16 hours in the clinical setting, under the supervision of a qualified instructor.

Trainees who complete the course are eligible to take the skills and written examination. State testing is conducted at St. Francis Home through D&S testing. Trainees who successfully pass the skills and written examination will be placed on the state registry for nursing assistants.

Those being considered for a seat in the next NATP class at St. Francis Home must obtain a criminal background check and obtain a set of fingerprint impressions. A BCI & I background check must be completed prior to admission to the class at the participant's expense and be paid at the time the background check is completed.

Why does an individual have to be fingerprinted? Fingerprint impressions are required by state law. The law states that all individuals working with the elderly must have a background check to determine if they have a criminal record that might disqualify them. The law was passed to protect the elderly and the people who work with them. The cost is $30.00.

This can be done at the North Central Ohio Educational Services Center located at 65 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin (former Betty Jane Rehabilitation Center location), 419-447-2927. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Please ask to have the results mailed to Carrie Wilkinson, RN, St. Francis Home, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, OH 44883.
